PRESS RELEASE

UNTRR and CNR protest against the lack of dialogue and interest of the Minister of Transport to the problems of Romanian road hauliers

UNTRR and CNR are employers' associations aimed at supporting the interests of Romanian road hauliers.

Our associations have made a series of important efforts in the relation with Romanian authorities, in order to inform them and to solve together with them, the problems encountered by the Romanian operators performing transport of goods and passengers.

Since the beginning of this year, UNTRR and CNR have signalized to the Ministry of Transport the main issues that seriously affect the competitiveness of the road transport sector in Romania - urgent problems to be solved on the short-run and general problems in the legal and institutional field. All the issues raised were completely ignored, remaining with no response from the Ministry of Transport, up to this date.

We wonder what is the management of the Ministry of Transport Road doing, since he is not doing anything for the road transport and neither for the other modes – as railways and airlines do not appear to have any spectacular development? We mention that the road transport is a sector of the national economy that requires minimal effort to operate optimally and to be developed - both in Romania, but especially on relations within the EU and between the EU and other countries outside the EU - thus, Romanian road hauliers being service providers in a globalised world, with minimal requirements from the Romanian authorities.

UNTRR and CNR express their dissatisfaction with the lack of dialogue and interest of the Minister of Transport. We consider that only a serious dialogue, assuming solutions to existing problems, can be the way for development and progress.

Due to the lack of communication and receptiveness of the Ministry of Transport to the Romanian road hauliers’ problems, reflected by legislative practices with a negative impact on the business environment, UNTRR and CNR protest starting with 23 May 2013 – an action which is perfectly justified by the amount of problems in the legislative and institutional field, that seriously affect the competitiveness of road transport in Romania.

Road hauliers will protest by driving on low speed(10 km/h) just to reflect the speed of Transport Ministry's reaction to road hauliers' problems !

Road hauliers apologise to the other traffic participant for any blockades  that may appear due to the poor infrastructure.
