At UNTRR's Request, Sanctions for Non-Compliance with GPS Positioning Obligations in the RO e-Transport System Suspended Until December 31, 2025
At the request of the National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania (UNTRR), the Romanian authorities have suspended the enforcement of sanctions for non-compliance with GPS positioning obligations in the RO e-Transport system until 31 December 2025, as officially published in the Official Monitor of Romania.
This decision follows UNTRR's repeated calls to postpone the application of sanctions, citing persistent technical malfunctions within the RO e-Transport platform that prevent road transport operators from fulfilling their legal obligations regarding GPS data transmission.
UNTRR’s initiative aims to safeguard transport operators from being unfairly penalized due to systemic deficiencies, emphasizing that the electronic platform is not currently operating under the technical conditions required for full legal compliance.
The suspension of sanctions was prompted by numerous complaints from the road transport sector, reporting that the e-Transport application often fails to operate correctly, including instances where it is completely inaccessible. UNTRR therefore formally requested a deferral of sanctions related to the failure to input the UIT code and to transmit the GPS positioning data of transport vehicles.
Following these developments, on 24 April 2025, the Romanian Government adopted the decision to suspend the imposition of fines for non-compliance with GPS positioning requirements in the RO e-Transport system until the end of 2025.
